Why IIIT Guwahati?

• Affiliation: Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIITG) is an institution under MHRD, Govt. of India. It is an Institution of National Importance under an Act of Parliament (THE INDIAN INSTITUTES OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP) ACT, 2017.
• Permanent Campus: The Institute has shifted to its permanent campus in July 2018. Most of the faculty members are staying in the faculty residence within the campus itself. The campus is located on a 67 acre plot, 5 km from Guwahati airport, on the National Highway.

• Director: Prof. Sarat Kumar Patra Director of NIT Agartala is the Director in charge of the Institute.
• Faculty Strength: Professor (Emeritus) - 1, Professor – 1, Assoc. Professor – 11, Asst. Professor – 38; Total – 51
• Staff Strength: Registrar(i/c)/Superintending Engineer/Estate Officer–1, Deputy Registrar–1, Senior Technical Superintendent – 6, Senior Superintendent – 5, Senior Accounts Officer – 1, Junior Assistant – 10, Library Information Officer – 2; total – 26.
• Placement:

  IIIT Guwahati had conducted active placement sessions in 2025-26 with an average package of 17.64 lakhs per annum, which is an increase of almost 1 LPA in the average CTC than last year. Some of the companies where our students got placed are: D.E. Shaw, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Adobe, Arista Network, Tekion, Cisco, JPMC, Future First, Natwest, India Mart, Cadence, Global Foundries, Vedya Labs, Nagarro, Accenture, HCLTech, Infosys, MAQ Software, BeatRoute, etc. The selection process for some companies is still going on and the data is likely to improve. Apart from the institute placement, some of our students are also aiming for higher studies in national and international institutes.

• Internship: Final year students have an option to spend their final semester as an intern in an external organization getting academic credit in lieu of B. Tech project credits.
• Campus-Network: IIITG provides 24x7 campus wide connectivity to its community. On campus, students can access high-speed (1 Gbps) LAN and Wi-fi. IIITG is part of National Knowledge Network (NKN), which ensures 1 Gbps connection.
• Accommodation & facilities: IIIT Guwahati provides hostel accommodation for both boys and girls within the campus. The boys’ hostel within the campus has an accommodation capacity of approximately 820 students, while the girls’ hostel within the campus has an accommodation capacity of approximately 226 students. On-campus hostel accommodation will be provided to all girls and PwD students. Due to the limited availability of on-campus hostel accommodation for boys, a certain number of students (approximately 80-120) may need to be accommodated outside the campus. To address this accommodation requirement, IIIT Guwahati has empanelled Paying Guest (PG) accommodation provider(s). The empanelled PG accommodations are within approximately 6.5 km from the IIIT Guwahati campus. The travel time between the campus and the PG accommodation is approximately 15-20 minutes by bus or car. For more information click here
• Sports & Recreation: A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Sports and games are a major aspect of complete development both physically and mentally for a person. In this competitive age, sports is equally essential to supplement and enhance the academic development. The students at IIITG indulge in a number of sporting activities like basketball, football, badminton, etc. which inculcate in them a spirit to participate, compete and win. IIIT Guwahati has its annual techno-cultural-sports fest named “Yuvaan” to give equal opportunities to boys and girls to portray their skills in various fields of recreation and sports
