Welcome to the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIIT Guwahati. The Department focuses on the study of human society, behaviour, institutions and communication — complementing technical education with critical thinking and social awareness. The Department aims to :
- Improve communication and soft skills

- Provide insight into human behaviour and society
- Emphasize understanding of Institutions and policy impacts

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIITG was formally established on March 31, 2016. It currently has eight faculty members who teach various compulsory and elective courses at the undergraduate level in different disciplines such as English, Linguistics, Economics, Political Science, Entrepreneurship, and Commerce. The Department even has a fully functioning PhD programme, with research scholars pursuing PhD on relevant contemporary issues in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences.
