ELIGIBILITY
Applicant must fulfil both of the following criteria:
- Master’s degree in relevant discipline with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
- Selected through either GATE or NET.
OR
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0 or 65% of marks.
- Selected through either GATE or NET.
RESERVATIONS
(SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy layer) and PD categories): Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CPI for SC/ST/PD applicants. Reservation is as per GOI rules. OBC (Non-creamy layer) candidates will have to enclose certificate and self-declaration statement as per format at Annexure-I & Annexure-II. The OBC (NCL) Certificate, issued by the competent authority, on or after 01-06-2019, shall only be acceptable.
FELLOWSHIP
Rs. 31,000/- per month (+ 18% HRA) from DST, Govt. of India till the project ends. After the project ends, the student will receive the support of Rs. 20,000/- per month from an Institute fellowship during the remaining first two years of their PhD programme. After that, till four years are complete, the student will receive Rs. 25,000/- per month as an Institute fellowship.
THE SCHEDULE AND THE PROGRAMME
- Last date of receiving application: Extended till 15-12-2022 (Thursday).
- Date of Selection in Online Mode: The fourth week of December (Tentative).
- Shortlisting will be done based on the academic performance of the candidates on fulfilling the eligibility criteria. A candidate merely fulfilling the eligibility criteria may not be shortlisted.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated through email to appear for the interview.
- There is no application fee.
- The selected
candidate will subsequently be registered for PhD programme in the
Department of Computer Science & Engineering, IIIT Guwahati, if they
fulfil the required criteria.
- Course Requirements, if any, will be prescribed by individual Departments. But students will be encouraged to take courses. The Doctoral Committee of a student will evaluate the preparedness of a student and prescribe one or more courses that will have to be taken.
- There will be a written comprehensive examination after admission to determine if the student is ready to take up research work and to determine if the student has sufficient breadth of knowledge in the discipline he/she has been admitted to.

*The candidate needs
to pay the hostel and mess fees only when a student joins a hostel. Hostel rent
will be charged on a pro-rata basis (semester of 6 months with a charge of
12,500/- for the whole semester) based on when the student joins a hostel.
